Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our esteemed nursing team at Reddington Hospital in Oniru, Lagos. The CNA will play a vital role in providing direct patient care, assisting patients with daily living activities, and supporting our registered nurses in delivering high-quality healthcare services. This position requires strong empathy, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a comfortable and safe environment for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene.
- Help patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately.
- Document patient observations, care provided, and changes in condition, reporting promptly to the nursing staff.
- Assist with feeding patients, monitoring intake and output as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and changing linens.
- Respond to patient calls and requests promptly and courteously.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Assist nurses with medical procedures as directed and within the scope of practice.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
Required Skills
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from an accredited program.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion for patients.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care practices.
- Physical stamina to perform duties that include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a hospital, clinic, or long-term care setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Fluency in local Nigerian languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa) is a plus.
