Job Description

GeoPoll is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Digital Research Assistant to join our team in Mbita Point, Homa Bay. This on-site role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about leveraging technology for social impact and data-driven insights. You will play a crucial role in supporting our research projects, assisting with the design, deployment, monitoring, and analysis of digital surveys across various sectors. This position requires strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a foundational understanding of digital tools and research methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and deployment of digital survey instruments across mobile and web platforms.
• Monitor active data collection projects to ensure data quality and adherence to timelines.
• Perform preliminary data cleaning, validation, and organization using spreadsheet software.
• Support the research team in basic data analysis and the preparation of initial findings.
• Liaise with field teams, local partners, and respondents to ensure smooth project execution.
• Document research processes, methodologies, and outcomes accurately.
• Contribute to the identification of innovative digital research tools and approaches.
• Support the preparation of research reports, presentations, and other communication materials.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data entry and basic analysis.
• Strong digital literacy and comfort with various online platforms and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, ICT, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
• Prior experience, even academic, with survey platforms (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, ODK).
• Familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
