Job Description

CBRE is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Disposal Specialist to manage the efficient and compliant disposition of surplus property and assets in our Madison, WI operations. This role is critical in optimizing asset recovery value, ensuring environmental compliance, and maintaining accurate inventory records for various properties under CBRE’s management. The successful candidate will coordinate with multiple internal departments and external vendors to streamline the disposal process from identification to final removal and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for the efficient disposal of surplus property, equipment, and assets.
  • Conduct regular inventories to identify assets eligible for disposal, including furniture, fixtures, equipment, and materials.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., facilities, finance, legal) to ensure proper authorization and compliance for all disposal activities.
  • Research and apply best practices for property disposal, maximizing value recovery through sales, auctions, recycling, or donations.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and recycling facilities to facilitate timely and cost-effective disposal.
  • Ensure all disposal activities adhere to company policies, local, state, and federal environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all disposed assets, including descriptions, values, dates, and methods of disposal.
  • Prepare reports on disposal activities, recovery rates, and cost savings for management review.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction in property disposal operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in asset management, property disposal, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance related to waste and asset disposal.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications in asset management, waste management, or logistics.
  • Experience with sustainable disposal practices and green initiatives.
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate operations and facility management.
