Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Public Utilities Specialist to join our team in Geelong. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency, safety, and compliance of our water and wastewater infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of activities including field investigations, data analysis, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communication. You will play a key role in ensuring our operations meet current standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of our utility services. This position requires a strong understanding of utility operations, regulations, and a commitment to public service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations and assessments of water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Monitor utility operations for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports on findings, recommendations, and compliance status.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and environmental teams to implement solutions and improvements.
- Manage and analyse data related to utility performance, asset condition, and service delivery.
- Respond to and resolve customer inquiries and complaints related to utility services.
- Assist in the development and review of operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in emergency response activities and incident investigations.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and community groups.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field staff on utility-related matters.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in public utilities, infrastructure management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of water and/or wastewater systems and operations.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and standards.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience with GIS software and utility management systems.
- Knowledge of Victorian water industry regulations and policies.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and community consultation.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., WHS, confined space, First Aid).
