Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contracting Officer to join our dynamic team in Coventry. This pivotal role involves managing the full lifecycle of complex contracts, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and achieving optimal value for money. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting various projects and service delivery initiatives by expertly navigating procurement processes, negotiating terms, and fostering strong supplier relationships. This is a hybrid role, offering a blend of office presence and remote work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, from tender preparation and negotiation to award and close-out.
- Develop and implement robust contract management plans and strategies.
- Ensure all contractual agreements comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers and service providers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Monitor contract performance, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Act as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external vendors regarding contractual matters.
- Prepare detailed contract reports, analyses, and presentations for management review.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the contracting function.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Contracting Officer, Contract Manager, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles, contract law, and commercial terms.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex contracts and multiple stakeholders concurrently.
- Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
- Degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPS qualification (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience working within a large professional services firm or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with UK government contracting regulations and frameworks.
- Experience with digital contract management platforms.
