Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to join our supply chain team in Omaha, Nebraska. This role is open for candidates requiring visa sponsorship. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services essential for Union Pacific’s operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage purchasing strategies aligned with company goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of purchasing specialists, fostering their professional growth.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, prices, and service level agreements.
- Manage and optimize supplier relationships, including performance monitoring and risk assessment.

- Analyze market and delivery trends to develop procurement strategies that mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, operations, finance) to understand requirements and ensure timely acquisition of materials and services.

- Manage inventory levels and purchasing budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company ethics, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement management.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex industrial environment.
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or MBA.
