Job Description
Join the dedicated team at the YMCA of Prince Edward Island as a Sports Coach, where you will inspire and guide participants of all ages in various sports and physical activities. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging sports curricula and activities for various age groups and skill levels.
- Lead dynamic coaching sessions, ensuring the safety and active participation of all individuals.
- Teach fundamental sports techniques, rules, and strategies in a clear and encouraging manner.
- Promote an inclusive, positive, and sportsmanlike atmosphere during all activities.
- Monitor and evaluate participant progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and safely utilized.
- Collaborate with other YMCA staff to coordinate schedules and program logistics.
- Adhere to all YMCA policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in coaching or instructing sports, demonstrating leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Strong knowledge of multiple sports and physical activity principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Ability to adapt coaching methods to suit various age groups and abilities.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
- A valid coaching certification from a recognized sports organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Experience working in a community-based or non-profit setting.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
- Experience with diverse populations, including newcomers and individuals with special needs.
