Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our compassionate team in Spokane, Washington. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for accurately collecting blood samples from patients of all ages, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and procedural protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients of all ages with precision and care.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure correct labeling of all specimens according to established procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients to explain procedures, alleviate anxiety, and ensure a positive experience.
  • Accurately document all specimen collection information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Handle and process specimens for transport to the laboratory, ensuring specimen integrity.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies, ensuring availability and proper storage.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance skills.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program
  • Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, AMT)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist in a clinical setting
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques for diverse patient populations (infants to geriatrics)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer proficiency for electronic documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Experience with various laboratory information systems (LIS)
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
  • Experience in a hospital or large clinic setting
