Job Description

Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Biology Teacher to join our esteemed Science Department for the upcoming academic year. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and challenging biology lessons to students across different grade levels (9-12).
• Develop and implement a comprehensive biology curriculum aligned with school standards and best practices.
• Assess student learning through a variety of methods, providing constructive feedback and support.
• Supervise and guide students in laboratory activities and science projects.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Science Department on curriculum development, lesson planning, and departmental initiatives.
• Participate in school-wide activities, professional development, and faculty meetings.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and academic concerns.
• Act as a mentor and role model, upholding the values and mission of Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in Biology at the secondary level.
• Demonstrated expertise in current biological concepts and pedagogical best practices.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to create an engaging learning environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in educational technology and laboratory equipment.
• Eligibility for U.S. teaching certification or willingness to pursue it.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education, Biology, or a related field.
• Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) Biology or honors-level courses.
• Prior experience in an independent or Catholic school setting.
• Demonstrated experience with inquiry-based learning and project-based science.
• Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
