Job Description

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced and dynamic Plant Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Raleigh, NC. This critical leadership role involves overseeing all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality, safety, inventory, and cost management, to ensure the efficient and profitable operation of the facility. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, foster a culture of safety and excellence, and develop a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all plant operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, and cost objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of manufacturing professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Oversee inventory management, supply chain logistics, and production scheduling.
  • Manage plant budgets, control expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to optimize product flow and resolve operational challenges.
  • Report on production performance, key metrics, and operational challenges to senior management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in plant management or a similar senior manufacturing leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and drive Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and cost control.
  • Solid knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt, or other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience in heavy machinery, automotive, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP or Oracle.
