Job Description

Amnesty International Canada is seeking a passionate and dedicated intern to join our team in Gatineau, Quebec. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in human rights advocacy, research, and non-profit operations within a world-renowned organization. The intern will support various projects aimed at promoting justice, freedom, and dignity for all. This is an excellent chance for individuals interested in international relations, law, social justice, or non-profit management to contribute meaningfully to critical human rights work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with research and analysis on human rights issues relevant to Canadian and international campaigns.
  • Support the preparation of reports, briefings, and advocacy materials.
  • Help organize and coordinate events, workshops, and public awareness campaigns.
  • Contribute to social media content creation and digital outreach efforts.
  • Provide administrative support to various departments as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
  • Monitor news and developments related to human rights, both domestically and internationally.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant post-secondary program (e.g., Human Rights, International Relations, Law, Political Science, Social Justice, Communications).
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in human rights and social justice issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in French (oral and written).
  • Previous volunteer or internship experience in a non-profit or advocacy setting.
  • Familiarity with international human rights law and mechanisms.
  • Experience with social media management or content creation tools.
  • Knowledge of Canadian political and legal systems.
