Job Description
Dobbies Garden Centres in Manchester is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Seasonal Farm & Nursery Workers. This temporary role is perfect for those who love working outdoors, have a passion for plants, and are looking for a hands-on opportunity to contribute to our beautiful nursery and garden areas. You will be instrumental in ensuring our plants thrive and our nursery remains a welcoming and visually appealing space for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Planting, potting, and transplanting various plants, shrubs, and trees.
- Watering and fertilizing plants according to specific schedules and requirements.
- Assisting with pest and disease control measures.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the nursery and farm areas.
- Preparing plants for display and sale, ensuring they meet Dobbies' quality standards.
- Operating basic nursery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Providing general support to the horticulture team as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and bending.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of plant care or a willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a nursery, garden centre, or agricultural setting.
- Knowledge of different plant species and their care requirements.
- Horticulture qualifications or certifications.
- Full UK driving license (desirable, but not essential).
