Job Description

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an exciting opportunity for an international candidate as we are offering visa sponsorship. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based medical nutrition therapy to patients across various inpatient and outpatient settings. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, educate patients and their families, and contribute to overall patient wellness and recovery. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the nutritional status of patients, including medical history, anthropometric measurements, biochemical data, and dietary intake.
  • Develop and implement individualized medical nutrition therapy plans based on patient needs, medical conditions, and cultural preferences.
  • Provide comprehensive nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families on topics such as disease management, dietary modifications, and healthy eating habits.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to integrate nutrition care into the overall treatment plan.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, adjusting plans as necessary to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Document nutrition assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in patient medical records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, grand rounds, and continuing education programs to stay current with advances in nutrition science and practice.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research projects within the department and institution.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and hospital policies related to nutrition care.
  • Supervise and mentor dietetic interns or other healthcare students as needed.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, or eligibility to sit for the exam with intent to pass within 6 months of hire.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Dietitian in the state of Georgia (upon successful completion of the RD/RDN exam if applicable).
  • Strong understanding of medical nutrition therapy principles for various disease states.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition care.
  • Knowledge of food service operations and patient meal systems.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition or Public Health.
  • Specialty certification (e.g., CSO, CSP, CDE, CNSC).
  • Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting or large outpatient clinic.
  • Previous experience with visa sponsorship processes.
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian.
