Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer to join our innovative development team in Arlington, VA. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance web applications and services that are critical to AWS’s internal operations and customer-facing platforms. You will work within an agile environment, collaborating closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to deliver robust solutions. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of the PHP ecosystem, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust PHP-based web applications and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
- Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and beyond.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to team growth and technical excellence.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying them where appropriate.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in PHP development.
- Proficiency with modern PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or Zend Framework.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL.
- Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, or a modern JS framework like React/Vue/Angular).
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git.
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Knowledge of unit testing and TDD methodologies.
