Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Trial Attorney to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team in Manchester. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing and litigating complex commercial disputes, representing clients in court, arbitration, and mediation settings. This role demands a sharp legal mind, exceptional advocacy skills, and a proven track record of achieving favourable outcomes for clients. You will be responsible for all stages of litigation, from initial case assessment and strategy development to discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with precision and clarity.
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and depositions.
  • Represent clients effectively in court hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution forums (arbitration, mediation).
  • Develop and present persuasive oral arguments.
  • Collaborate with senior partners and legal teams on complex cases.
  • Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance to clients.
  • Manage caseload efficiently, ensuring compliance with court deadlines and client objectives.
  • Mentor junior legal staff and contribute to team development.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales with a current practicing certificate.
  • Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in commercial litigation.
  • Extensive experience with the Civil Procedure Rules and court processes.
  • Proven track record of successful trial advocacy and dispute resolution.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong client management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a top-tier international or national law firm.
  • Specialisation in a particular area of commercial litigation (e.g., banking, construction, intellectual property).
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and technologies.
  • Postgraduate degree in law or related field.
