Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intergovernmental Affairs Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in supporting Massachusetts General Hospital’s engagement with various governmental bodies, analyzing policy impacts, and contributing to strategic advocacy efforts. The successful candidate will play a key role in tracking legislative and regulatory developments, preparing briefings, and facilitating communication between the hospital and public officials.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and report on legislative, regulatory, and policy developments at the local, state, and federal levels that impact healthcare and the hospital's operations.
- Prepare comprehensive policy briefs, memos, and presentations for senior leadership on emerging intergovernmental issues and their potential implications.
- Support the development and implementation of advocacy strategies to advance the hospital’s policy priorities.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, legislative staff, and coalition partners.
- Coordinate and support meetings, hearings, and events involving government representatives.
- Conduct research on public policy issues, legislative history, and best practices.
- Assist in drafting official correspondence, public statements, and testimony related to government affairs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant lobbying and ethics regulations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex legislation and policy documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in drafting policy briefs and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in government relations, legislative affairs, public policy analysis, or a similar role.
- Experience working within a healthcare system, academic institution, or government agency.
- Familiarity with Massachusetts state government and legislative issues.
- Experience with legislative tracking software and databases.
