Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Security Engineer to join our dynamic cybersecurity team in Detroit. This role is critical in protecting Ford’s digital assets by embedding security throughout the software development lifecycle. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure applications, performing security assessments, and guiding development teams on best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Perform security reviews of application architecture and design.
- Conduct threat modeling exercises for new and existing applications.
- Implement and integrate static (SAST) and dynamic (DAST) application security testing tools into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Collaborate with development teams to identify, prioritize, and remediate application security vulnerabilities.
- Develop and deliver security training and guidance to engineering teams.
- Participate in incident response activities related to application security.
- Research and stay current on new security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
- Develop secure coding standards and guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript).
- Strong understanding of web application security concepts (OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 25).
- Experience with SAST, DAST, and SCA tools.
- Familiarity with cloud security principles (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of secure SDLC methodologies and practices.
- Experience with API security and microservices architecture.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CSSLP, CEH, GWAPT).
- Experience with container security (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of cryptographic principles and their application.
- Experience in an agile development environment.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001).
