Job Description

Ochsner Health System is seeking a dedicated and analytical Public Health Analyst to join our team in Gulfport, Mississippi. This role is crucial for monitoring public health trends, evaluating health programs, and informing data-driven strategies to improve community health outcomes across our service areas. The Public Health Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex health data, translating findings into actionable insights for various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, manage, and analyze large datasets related to public health, epidemiology, and healthcare outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain public health surveillance systems and databases.
  • Conduct statistical analyses, including descriptive, inferential, and predictive modeling, to identify health trends and risk factors.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and data visualizations for internal teams, community partners, and leadership.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of public health interventions and programs.
  • Collaborate with clinical, research, and community outreach teams to support public health initiatives.
  • Stay informed about current public health issues, policies, and best practices.
  • Assist in grant writing and proposal development for public health projects.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience with large dataset management and epidemiological analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of public health principles and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a healthcare system or government public health agency.
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS) for health mapping and analysis.
  • Certification in Public Health (CPH).
