Job Description
DLA Piper is seeking a highly experienced and esteemed individual for the specialized role of Magistrate within our Senior Legal Advisory team in Manchester. This unique position is designed for a professional with a profound understanding of judicial processes, legal interpretation, and the application of law in complex scenarios. While not a public judicial appointment, this role leverages the critical thinking, impartiality, and deep legal acumen characteristic of a Magistrate. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance on intricate legal matters, contribute to strategic decision-making, and uphold the highest standards of legal ethics and practice within the firm and for our clients. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and strategic counsel on complex cases, drawing upon a deep understanding of judicial principles and legal precedents.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support internal teams and client engagements.
- Assist in the development of case strategies, focusing on a balanced and impartial assessment of facts and legal arguments.
- Offer authoritative interpretations of statutory and common law to guide dispute resolution and transactional advice.
- Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership on legal and judicial matters.

Required Skills
- Proven experience in a judicial, quasi-judicial, or senior legal advisory capacity.

Preferred Qualifications
- Admission as a Barrister or Solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of 5 years PQE (Post-Qualified Experience).
- Experience as a Lay Magistrate or other equivalent judicial/quasi-judicial appointment.
- Advanced degree in Law (LLM) or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within a legal context.
